My journey, my story….

A background in behavioral science and a life in entrepreneurship have shaped how I see the world. My work has taken me from academia into the fast-paced, humbling reality of business ownership, while keeping me grounded in what matters most—being a present and loving father to my two daughters

While earning my Ph.D. and teaching at Western Michigan University, I spent nearly a decade working with children on the autism spectrum. That experience sharpened my understanding of human behavior and deepened my commitment to creating meaningful impact—skills I bring with me into every venture I lead today.

I’m the founder of Varilio Consulting, where I coach organizations using behavioral science to enhance performance, improve workplace culture, and support human-centered leadership. I also serve my community through my restaurants, not just as a business owner, but as a mentor and coach to the people who work with me every day.

Whether I’m helping a team develop healthier habits, writing for fun, experimenting with the perfect chicken brine, or showing up to volunteer at my daughters’ school, I’m driven by the hope and optimism that comes from seeing the positive impact I can have on the people around me.
